What do you do to train and how often to you practice slalom?

Hi Gary,
I am so ready. Training? You want training secrets, don't you? Well, I do alot of cross-training. In a typical week, I may skate slalom 3 times, skate a park once, go to the gym twice, and go to yoga once. That leaves me one day to sluff off. I usually try to catch up on work that day.
It varies, but I have been keeping a diary of how many reps I do at the gym, how many laps I do, what park I skated, which yoga class did I go to? Where did I surf?

Two real training tips: 1) get a timer. When you skate against a timer (and against your friends) you really push yourself, rather than just making laps.
2) skate uphill. You really need to focus on your rhythm and what muscles you are using.

Anything specific you wanted to know, Gary or anyone else, just ask.

-Lynn

Hey Lynn, sounds like your ready to roll in to the new "season" of racing in race shape.

I agree nothing works like a timer, I had one but sold it to John Ravitch since I haven't been riding much slalom in the past two years.

Keep up the training and representing SK8KINGS!

Just finished racing and then travelled to Koblenz, Germany, staying at karl f. and weasel's pad.
Lots and lots of hard work. paid off. I will remember that GS course forever. Sick hill, through the forest, fast, carving line, go as fast as you can. You'll make it.
Axe is the tool in the tight. Can't get over the quickness of it. First run to shoulder roll, came back strong.
Jackhammer is the man. Rode hurt all weekend, pulled it out in the GS. 6th place open. Great racing with you. You make races fun. Sharing a pit, sharing wheel ideas, yelling, go go go brotha!
Richy, you are unbeleiveable. I am so honored, and love riding with you and your team. Sk8kings rules! And Maria, thanks for standing out in the heat all day every race, just so we can look back and remember that GS hill.
LYnn
