The holidays are upon us and slalom season is over for the year. Amazing to look back and reflect -- we have so many things to be thankful for -- health, happiness, family, friends . . . and slalom racing.
2005 was one of the biggest years in modern slalom history and we were busy in the thick of it for most of the year. Over the season Richy and I traveled to races all over the US and twice to Europe. The '05 season kicked off locally in February with the first of the monthly
Pump Station Outlaw series races in San Diego and continued across the US to
Athens Georgia for the Red Clay Cup -- and plenty of southern hospitality & BBQ in April. In May, we made the big leap across the pond with Radikal/Team USA to represent at the
World Cup at the Trocadero in Paris France. In July we were off to beautiful
Hood River Oregon for the West Coast Championships followed directly with
the second Euro adventure with Radikal/Team USA for the European Championships in Stockholm Sweden. Next came
Breckenridge Colorado for the US Nationals in August and in September -- we were back in Cali for
the season finale - the World Championships at Morro Bay.
Our 2005 slalom racing journeys have been documented on video by yours truly and will eventually be available on dvd. It's awesome to be a part of something so fun . . . memories to last a lifetime . . . and hopefully many more fun times are ahead. Richy had a decent season despite fighting a back injury for a good part of it. The current world ranking has Richy the #4 top pro overall -- based on an average of the last four seasons.
