The US Flatland Freestyle Championships was held at the Factory Skateboard Park in Wake Forest, NC, on Saturday, May 26, 2007.

The event showcased a diverse and impressive display of skill, talent, and style by freestyle skateboarders from across the United States. The number of amateur competitors and new talent in the competition shows that there is growth in the freestyle discipline, and gives people hope for a brighter future in this skateboarding discipline. In fact, the diverse types of equipment being used, with the majority being more traditional freestyle shapes, further emphasizes opportunity for the skateboard industry. The competition also demonstrated that seasoned skaters (us older guys  ) are still skating strong, and are in it for the long haul. Everyone ripped, and had a great time!

A real treat for me was to see Tim Morris (former Pro skater for Walker) skate in person. He totally killed it with his speed, power, and style, inspiring me skate even harder! Thank you, Tim. I was very surprised that you did not at least place in the freestyle comp. You skated so well! Congratulations on winning the spin off!

Thanks to Kayce Shelton and Tommy Harward for hosting the event. And, thanks to Richy and Maria Carrasco for supporting the event with prizes. As always, your support is appreciated and felt by all.

RESULTS

Am
1st Connor Burke - VA
2nd John Jaje - FL - Ducer Skateshop
3rd Greyson Asthon - OH
4th Kyle Kiefer - NC
5th John “Sargeâ€

Hey SK8kings, havent been here in a while, but I just wanted to 2nd Frank on what an amazing contest this was...and that things are still kicking on the East Coast. It was great to meet up with everyone again.

I want to thank Sk8kings for its support of freestyle skateboarding by helping to sponser the competition.

I also want to give props to one of your riders. Frank Lee did a fantastic job at the contest despite injuries and was a site to be seen in the Pro division. His style was great and solid as always and tricks like his rail handstand 2x flip always amaze me. It was great to skate with him and hang out with him again. He's a great guy and one of the East Coast's finest. Your lucky to have him on Sk8kings.

Myself... I always get the jitters at contest so 5th wasnt bad i guess. Thing is i know i can do much better. Im fine when it comes to demos and such, but contest....

A fun time all around. Thanks Sk8kings!!!

Sarge, you are too kind! By the way, you ripped! It was a pleasure to watch you skate, and it was great to hang out with you again. Thanks for the good times!

Greetings from Europe!

Frank -- Thanks for representing and super stoked to see you were able to compete so well. Congrats! Sarge and all the rest who were able to show up and support -- great job. Nice to see this and other events cropping up and SK8KINGS is happy to support from afar.

Great wrap up Frank. Thanks for posting that with the pics too! Looking forward to catching up more soon.
