Hey guys -- Just checking in as we close in on race #1 this Sunday.
Schwag from our generous sponsors has been rolling in so we will have some nice prizes for the open class. Big props go out to these sponsors who are lending their support to this series so far:
SK8KINGS (of course!) PPS (Thanks Chicken!) LCB (Thanks Lynn!) Khiro (Thanks Bob & LouAnn!) Oust (Thanks Carl!) Randal (Thanks Michael!) Sk8Trip (Thanks Chris!) Skaterbuilt (Thanks Dave!) Radikal Pro Racing Trucks (Thanks Keith & Mark!) Silverfish (Thanks Eric & Kai!) NCDSA (Thanks Adam!) Concrete Wave Mag (Thanks Michael!) IGSA (Thanks Marcus!) Big Thanks also to friends and family who have offered to help out!
Couple of notes -- Remember this is an outlaw event and we need to keep things on the down low as much as possible. So please be respectful with the local residents in the area, people who also use the access road for cycling, walking their dog, etc., and of course any law enforecment or security people you may come in contact with. The roads are NOT closed for our use so we need to share and be cool with it. That will give us the best possible chance of pulling things off without a hitch. There have been many successful outlaw events at both venues in the recent years so if everyone cooperates, that track record should continue. Worse case -- we have a back up venue if we get shut down.
Each race in the series will have ISSA "Basic" status points tallied for Pro & Open racers.
If you are planning to come out and race, make sure you sign up on line (follow the link on the flyer) so you will receive directions to the venue via e-mail. Please bring cash to pay your entry fee on site. On race day -- I will have our office line forward to my cell so if you are lost or something send out an S.O.S. SK8KINGS Hotline -- 714-636-7308
Sooooooo -- let the fun begin!

Things are looking good as we count down to race #3 of our series - Saturday, Oct. 4 in Pasadena. Stoked to see we have some qualty racers signed up and some good friends traveling clear across the nation to be here including -- Keith Hollien - Florida, Chris Favero - Chicago and Wentzle Ruml - Mass. Central Cal, Nor Cal and the So Cal locals will be represented. This is gonna be good. Here's the weather forecast for the weekend: http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/USCA0840?from=tenDay_topnav_undeclaredDon't forget, Steve Collins has set up a Friday night race (Oct. 3) in San Pedro so everyone can get their fill of racing next weekend. (see our calendar for details on that) BTW -- here's the weather report for San Pedro: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USCA1009?from=36hr_topnav_undeclared###

Note -- we are moving the start time of Saturday's race up one hour. So that means warm-up time at 10:00 and racing at 11:00 a.m.
We're trying to get finished as soon as possible so we can clear the hill. There is a possibility of car traffic AND it is usually very HOT.
Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Weather reports are still too premature to be reliable.
Welcome out of towners -- Chris Favero, Keith Hollien & Wentzle Ruml. See ya soon!

Heading out to the hill to get things ready for this morning's race. So far the weather report calls for cloudy and cool (70's) with chance of showers throughout the day. No telling exactly when or if the showers will come. We only need a short window to do this thing so please try to be on time if you want the best chance of racing. We will start practice at 10 and race at 11. The hotline is forwarding to my cell -- call if you need to -- I'm try to answer if possible but keep in mind we'll be busy. 714-636-7308.
Cheers!

JPL -- Race #3 Report Well -- low cloud cover and misty rain hit the normally hot and sunny JPL venue early a.m. We forged ahead to get everything set up and hoped for the best. Racers begain arriving including special out of state guests Wentzl Ruml, Keith Hollien, Chris Favero along with the So Cal crew -- Kosick, Maysey, Kramer, Cox, Kaelon, Collins and new-comer Anthony Anaya -- to join us and wait for things to dry up. The waterworks stopped for a bit, the hill was nearly dry enough to be safe, and then it started raining again. We left for lunch in the hopes it would pass but that didn't happen. The die-hard vigil continued late into the afternoon. Though we didn't get to race we made the most of hanging out together and everyone got to drool over the venue potential. Sorry guys. Thanks to the racers & supporters for coming out and being such good sports all day. Many Thanks to our generous sponsors who donated schwag for this event Khiro Products, Oust Bearings, Randal Trucks, PocketPistols and Skaterbuilt -- your support is much appreciated and we will roll the prize pool over to the series finale race -- set for Saturday, October 25 at Pump Station San Diego. See ya then! ###

Soooooo -- this weekend is the last race of our mini-series on the big hills. We've got some out of town guests again -- Marty Schaub all the way from Joja and Ryan Ricker coming out from Albucrazy. Also expecting a visit from Di Dootson -- anyone remember that name? Look forward to meeting some new people too judging by the signup list so far.
We will be awarding cash to the top 4 Pro finishers, award plaques to the top 4 finishers in both classes, a sweet stockpile of sponsor prizes -- AND -- this is the wrap-up where we name the overall series winners! Who will be the King of So Cal???
I've just heard from Timeship Racing out of New Mexico -- who will sponsor a special challenge --- a swtich stance event. Extra cash payout to the fastest time riding switch. More details coming as we firm that up with Timeship.
Weather looks great this time (forecast calls for 0% of the R-word). Come on down.
PS -- signup to get the racer e-mail with directions and all the other good info you need. We're not publishing maps or directions to the venue otherwise. Get on the signup if you want the 411.
Cheers -- It's on!

Last Saturday we had our 4th and final race in our So Cal Outlaw GS Series. One great benefit of this series was that it gave us all an extra reason to get together. Richy and I have traveled a lot this season but some of our most special memories will be from these local, low-key events. Thanks to so many good friends who have traveled near and far to share that with us. After Race #3 at JPL was rained out -- we were extra-pumped for this finale event to be great. It was hot and sunny at the Pump Station with no threat of rain in sight. The out of town guest list added to the stoke – Marty Schaub flew in from Georgia, Ryan Ricker from New Mexico and the CCMF crew drove at least 6 hours from SLO to be there. Young gun Kirby Cox pushes in Racers were divided into Pro and Open classes for three runs – fastest time wins. The push-start course was fast and fun – set to take advantage of this excellent hill. In fact, this course was originally set at series race #2. For the series, we decided to mark and re-use the courses at both venues (JPL and Pump) so returning racers would have the opportunity to compare their times and gear performance. At series race #2 the bar was set by Martin Reaves with his winning time of 30.21 seconds. This time though a new course record of 29.53 was set by Richy Carrasco. The Bomber was “onâ€
